He’s a young and talented photographer. His name is Thomas Salva and he’s the Suitejump Tour 2008 official photographer.
He kindly answered some of our questions about the Tour.
Suiteblog : Hello Thomas. You are the Suitejump Tour official photographer. The activity could seem strange to some of the readers. I mean, jumping on beds and taking pictures… did you anything about it before starting on the Suitejump Tour ?
Thomas : Yes I knew about it. Halsman used that idea in the 50’s and he called it Jumpology. It wasn’t exactly jumping on beds. He used to take pictures of models jumping. The most famous picture is probably the one of Dali jumping with cats. It’s pretty surrealistic. Thanks to him we all enjoyed the experience.
Suiteblog : It must be pretty hard to catch the perfect moment during a jump isn’t it ? The jump, the facial expressions and the light… How many negatives do you have for a single evening ?
Thomas Salva : Well… the average number of jumps is usually 3 for each Suitejumper. But you are right the perfect moment is indeed pretty hard to catch. But the settings are more or less the same every time so as long as I set the lights right the first time it’s usually okay. However what was more difficult was to preserve the atmosphere of the room too, it’s a very different technique from the jump photography in itself.
Suiteblog : The Suitejump Tour ended a few days ago. It was a busy month for you. You went to France and Switzerland. How would you sum up that experience ?
Thomas Salva : Oh it was a blast. A month full of encounters and laughter. But we all had a very busy and exhausting month. We spent a lot of time on the road. We had to keep the level of motivation high all day long and during the evening as well for alteration.
There was some confusion with the organization but in the end the outcome and memories were really good.
Suiteblog : The guests must have quite surprised at first but did they enjoyed it ?
Thomas Salva : Yes, the concept is unusual and some explications were needed but once the guests started they refused to leave the beds.
Suiteblog : Do you want to share a special memory with us ?
Thomas Salva : I only have good memories. Take Lille Airport for example with a wild manager , same thing in Calais and the amazing evening in Cannes. But the best Suitejump is probably at the Geneva Suitehotel. The team was very enthusiastic and the managing director particularly welcoming. He arrived dressed from head to toe in his alpine ski outfit and let me tell you that the jump was unforgettable !
In spite of the exhaustion and the pressure, each date was a nice day.
Thank you Thomas for answering all our questions.

That’s it. We were all waiting for the big reveal and today I can officially tell you the names of the Suitejump Contest winners. Yes there are several of them. The competition was fierce, with amazing contributions from everybody but the ones who received the highest number of votes and the best marks were definitely the trio Adrien, Mathieu and Alexandre from ra7or, a collective blog for men. They received a total number of 327 votes and an average mark of 4,75/5. They won a Grand Week-End package in the Suitehotel of their choice. We are even more pleased to announce their victory that they long ago decided to offer the prize to their readers in case they won.
