You probably all know the computer brand Asus. It made a technological and promotional coup a few months ago with the EEPC computeur, the tiny and light laptop. Well… the brand will be on the front line again this month with the launch of the very first bambou laptop. The brand has taken a serie of measures aiming to manufacture cleaner and safer laptops and the Ecobook should be their very first example.

The computer is partly made of the famous Asian woody plant, especially for the case, which is covered in it. The Ecobook is built with labeled and recyclable plastic. Paints, sprays or even electroplating usually used on laptop components are banned. Furthermore a Led indicator helps you detect your settings and know if the computer is on a low or high energy consumption mode.

The Ecobook should be available very soon for the price of $1650.

What do you think of a laptop that helps fighting global warming and greenhouse effects ? I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the bamboo look of the Ecobook but the brand definitely gets brownie points in my book for trying to make technological products cleaner.
