After American Beauty (winner of Best Picture and Best Director Oscars in 2000), Sam Mendes returns with an hilarious and moving comedy following a young couple’s journey as they embark on the most marvelous of human adventures: starting a family.
When Burt and Verona find out they are going to be parents, it’s panic stations. They hate the rural town where they live, and now that Burt’s parents are moving away, nothing is keeping them there any more. So they decide to set off in search of the perfect place to raise their family. On the way, they visit old friends and relatives. Some of them seem stark raving mad; others make them want to follow their example. But in the end, they all contribute in their own way to making Burt and Verona realize that perhaps they only actually need each other to make their home.
