Suitehotel. A new way of hotel living

You are lost, wandering in the streets looking for a Wireless access. You don’t like it but you really have no choice. You HAVE to send your emails. Unfortunately for you, you are loaded with tons of stuff: the laptop in one hand, your files in the other. Your mobile phone is about to fall from your pocket and the headphones you are wearing can’t seem to be able to stay on for more than a few seconds at a time.

The situation is critical. And you have only two solutions. You could try one of those fast-foods on the side which proudly display a Wireless sign in the window or you could try coming in one the cafés down the road hoping to find a wireless point there and ready to fight with legions of moody and angry waiters (as you already guessed, I’m writing from a French point of view here).

Or you could do it the easy way by purchasing a Wireless detector tee-shirt. The glowing bars on the front of the shirt dynamically change as the surrounding signal strength fluctuates. It is pretty useful. Don’t forget to remove the battery before you wash your shirt however as it could turn out to be a safety hazard.

You can purchase the stylish tee-shirt over at ThinkGeek for 30$.

You probably all know the computer brand Asus. It made a technological and promotional coup a few months ago with the EEPC computeur, the tiny and light laptop. Well… the brand will be on the front line again this month with the launch of the very first bambou laptop. The brand has taken a serie of measures aiming to manufacture cleaner and safer laptops and the Ecobook should be their very first example.

The computer is partly made of the famous Asian woody plant, especially for the case, which is covered in it. The Ecobook is built with labeled and recyclable plastic. Paints, sprays or even electroplating usually used on laptop components are banned. Furthermore a Led indicator helps you detect your settings and know if the computer is on a low or high energy consumption mode.

The Ecobook should be available very soon for the price of $1650.

What do you think of a laptop that helps fighting global warming and greenhouse effects ? I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the bamboo look of the Ecobook but the brand definitely gets brownie points in my book for trying to make technological products cleaner.

It’s official; we are only a few days away from the summer period. Suitehotel is very keen to provide guests with the best environment and prices. That’s why a special offer was launched a few days ago. The Suite Deals packages allow you to get discounts if you stay for 4 or seven nights in a row.

The availability dates of these offers may slightly vary depending on the chosen destination but in general they run for a good deal of the summer period.

All the Suitehotel in France are offering the Suite Deals from the 15th of July until the end of August. However if you choose to go to Germany or Austria the dates are different, so you might want to check the promo page of www.suitehotel.com for more information on the booking dates and the details of the Suites.

France has many historical sites but one is particularly significant because it has been a huge part of history: Saint Denis Basilica. The first historical figures buried on site were St Denis, first archbishop of Paris and king Dagobert. Afterwards the basilica became the royal necropolis for many famous kings and queens including Louis XIV and Henry IV. During the Revolution tombs were opened and remains dispersed. It’s only in the middle of the following century that Viollet le Duc, already famous for his work on Notre-Dame, started renovating the basilica. Remaining statues and bones and monuments left untouched during the Revolution were brought back in St Denis. In 2004, the heart of the young Louis XVII was encased in the wall of the sepulture.

I remember being very impressed as a child when I visited the basilica with my class. St Denis is not usually considered as a place of interest except for people passionate about sports but the trip is definitely worth it.

The place is open from April to September from 10 am to 6:15 pm (12 am – 6:15 pm on Sundays) and from 10 am to 5:15pm from October to Mars.

If you’re not staying at St Denis Suitehotel you can access the basilica from lign 13, St Denis Basilica Stop.
